Pastor Ruth Hamilton received her Master of Divinity degree in 1983 from San Francisco Theological Seminary. She was an adjunct professor in the Speech and Preaching Department of the seminary for 5 years after her graduation. She was ordained on September 25, 1983 and served as a half-time Co-Pastor of the Suisun-Fairfield Congregational Church (United Church of Christ). In 1990, she became Associate Pastor of the Fort Street Presbyterian Church in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Ruth is a third-generation Presbyterian pastor. She was born on the Presbyterian mission field in Carizozo, New Mexico, and grew up in Clarksville, Arkansas. Attended Mount Holyoke College 1974-1977 and graduated from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas in 1980. | ![]() | Pastor Brian Hamilton received his Master of Divinity from Eastern Baptist Seminary in St. David, Pennsylvania. He did his seminary internship at Old Pine Presbyterian Church in Society Hill, Philadelphia. He also earned his masters, and completed a PhD residency, in sociology on the graduate faculty of the New School for Social Research. Brian is a second career pastor, having spent the first part of his career as professor of sociology. Brian was ordained on September 13, 1992 to serve as Associate Pastor of the Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church in Detroit, Michigan. Brian was born and raised in Princeton, Maine, 20 miles inland from the coast where Canada meets the U.S. Brian and Ruth were married on July 23, 1994. They live at 1218 Carrollsburg Place SW, Washington, DC 20024. |
| Music Director Vince Evans is a native Washingtonian, now living in nearby Maryland. An outstanding pianist, Vince has performed in Japan, France, England, Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Nigeria, Ghana, Switzerland, Amsterdam, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Zaire, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. He speaks French and little Spanish, Wolof, Swahili, Zulu, Arabic, German, Japanese, and Italian. Vince leads choir practice each Sunday at 9 AM, then plays the piano and organ during the worship service. Vince teaches piano and voice, and performs regularly at several local venues, frequently in other major US cities. Vince has his own website. |
