Westminster was the first Presbyterian Church in metropolitan DC to take an active, public position for the full inclusion of GLBT persons in the ministry of the denomination and equality and non-discrimination in society at large.

We continue to live out Christ's call to full inclusion by:

ordaining qualified persons of faith to all offices of the church, regardless of sexual orientation;

reaching out to sexual minorities in the Blade, the Other Pages, and "Rainbow Wedding Network", and other GLBT friendly publications;

openly lifting up the life experiences of GLBT persons in public worship–whether marriages, holy unions, anniversaries, deaths of partners, or other life events;

hosting seminars on transgender issues and welcoming cross-dressers in worship;

holding regular seminars that present our understanding of what the Bible has to say about homosexuality (we believe it is Good News for GLBT persons);

co-sponsoring or hosting cultural events of interest to the GLBT community, such as the fall concert by Jason and DeMarco;

giving financial support to the local and national organizations working for change in our denomination's policy of exclusion;

entering into a special relationship with Parish Partner Harry Stock, an openly gay man with over 25 years of experience in pastoral ministry in the Episcopal and MCC denominations. Among many other ministries, Harry coordinates the work of the congregation's GLBT Alliance.
